Personality:
It would be safe to say that Peck is arrogant, and prejudice. He has a great disdain for humans, and creatures that were at one time humans. Hamish, and Reese raised their children to be suspicious of humans, because they were never to be under estimated. A race that carried such an undeserved reign over the earth, should never be trusted. This power should have belonged to the supernaturals, considering they were far more powerful than any human that lived. It is because of this teaching, that he is not only racist, but also some what rude. However, he is not as committed to the word of hatred, as his parents, and some of his siblings are. During his time spent on land in Texas, he did come to make human friends, and they helped open his eyes to the fact that not all humans are bad, and worth distrusting. Still, he is less likely to be friendly with those of that race, upon first meeting.

Another very noticeable trait he carries, is that he talks endlessly. Always the first to speak, and always the one to have the last word. Peck can not stand dead air, he feels the need to fill it, whenever possible. He also tends to carry this attitude, that he is always right, and never at all in the wrong. It comes off as quite cocky, and annoying at times. These traits appear even more so, when in relation to something he knows he is skilled at. Such as his skate boarding, and swimming. He's quite the shit talker, when it comes down to it, and he rarely, if ever apologizes when he is wrong.

Personal Background:
The Caribbean sea, the gulf of Mexico, the Corpus Christi Bay... it seemed with every passing year, the mer clan became smaller, and moved more inward towards the land. The clan originated in the Caribbean sea, a rag tag group of mer people, from different areas of the world. However, the Thompson families origins, come from the North Atlantic Ocean, were the great, great, great grandfather of Hamish, was born, and raised. At some point, all though it is not clear, the several members of that clan traveled, looking for new grounds to call home, that weren't as heavily populated by human fisher men, or simple travelers for that matter. It was for this reason, that so many decided to make the long journey to better ports.

Because of these travels, and the ever growing threat of humans, that the family finally settled in Corpus Christi Bay. Instead of fighting against the growing populations, they decided to take their numbers, and use them for their own advantage. Adopting a second life of sorts, so that they would be able to move among the human kind, without drawing too much attention to themselves, and their families. Hamish, and his partner Reese were both raised in this fashion, so it was only natural to them that their children would also grow up in this way. During their time on land, the family took to doing contract labor jobs, so as not to acquire a paper trail. This income, allowed them a bit of money, so they could maintain a small apartment, close to the beach. The place was rarely used, and mostly for storing clothing, and other human items that they would have use for later on.

It was likely due to the fact, that both Hamish, and Reese grew up around humans themselves, a tradition started by the generation before them, that they developed such a strong hatred for humans, which was passed on to their own children. They bore witness to the destructive nature of humans, the complete disregard for the earth, and all she had to offer. Even though there was plenty of water, unoccupied by humans, the clan feared that one day, their numbers would grow so vast, that there would be no hiding from them. So, it was decided at one point, that they would just adapt along side of them.

Ryder, or Peck, as he prefers to be called, was the fifth, and last child born to the couple, just within the bay, where the family called home. From an early age, he was introduced to the human world, either by his parents ventures onto land, or by the continuously crowded beaches of Corpus. Of course, the children were taught from the start, to never trust humans, to stay clear of them, because they were a potential danger. This caution, turned to racism, and prejudice against the humans. It greatly effected Ryder, and his siblings. Causing them to be arrogant, and snarky with those they happened to come across on land. No surprising, it also happened to land Ryder into a bit of trouble from time to time, as he held no issue, picking fights with others. Such behavior was encouraged by not only his older siblings, but his father as well. Reese, however, was not as keen on fighting. She pressed upon her youngest son, the importance of maintaining peace with humans.

It wasn't until Ryder grew up a bit, and began to make human friends of his own, that he actually took his mothers advice into consideration. The closer he became with these people, the more he began to question his fathers extreme way of thinking. But, as they say, the damage was all ready done. Though he might not be as bad as his father, and older siblings, there is still an all too apparent dislike on his part. How Ryder came to make these friends, was thanks to his love of skateboarding. An activity that all the family took too, because they refused human technology, such as a vehicle. It just so happened, that the activity, was rather popular among the youth, and it didn't hurt that Ryder seemed to have a gift for it. What once had been a way of getting around, became a life style for him, one which he fell into heavily. Of course, it was a rather upsetting development for his family. They didn't wish to see one of their own, take so willingly to a humanish life.

It was because of this, that the family decided a change of scenery would be good for their youngest child. Also, because they were approached by a scout from Halcyon, who spoke candidly about the school of supernaturals. Of course, a school away from humans sounded excellent to them. After a bit of convincing, Ryder agreed to to try the school out. Having always wanted the chance to travel, and see the world, Ryder saw this as his first true chance to do so. So, with what little he had, and his skate board handy, he has since headed off to the island, to began a new, and his first semester at the school.

Weakness: Nicotine, he chain smokes. A habit which he acquired, after becoming part of the whole skating scene. The small group of humans he happened to be running with, all seemed to be rather fond of the little white sticks, and this more than anything, piqued his curiosity. After all, he wanted to seem as human, as the rest of them. It became such second nature to have a cigarette in his hand, the the hand to mouth motion is now deeply engrained in him. The smoking, more than anything, has caused quite a few fights in the family. Stubbornness, women, family. Being away from salt water for too long, too much heat, has to be in salt water, before his fins are able to appear.
Magical Abilities: Can breathe underwater, has the transformation from tail to legs, and legs to tail. Can heal faster than humans. Has the ability to speak to sea creatures..
Any Training: The Thompson family educated their children on humans, and their culture, so that they would not be so out of place when their time was spent on land. They all have a basic education, and understanding of human life. Peck was also taught by his parents to not only skate board, but obviously swim. Outside of salt water, his form does not change, so it was important that he learn to rely on his human form for swimming strength as well.
Special Skills: His family for the most part shun human transportation, knowing that it has extremely damaging impact on the earth, and as a result Peck has become quite the accomplished skate boarder. It started out as just a way to get around the streets of Corpus Christi, and now it is a passion.
